Yesterday, the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne and his good friend Slash swung by the House of Blues Sunset Strip to sign the Ozzy Osbourne Guitartown guitar. Fans and press were there in full effect waiting hours to see their favorite heavy metal men.
We had a second to talk to Slash and asked him about his favorite Roxy memory. He told us about his mother being in The Rocky Horror Picture Show live stage performances at The Roxy that started in 1974. Slash recalled being so young and getting to hang out in the venue. Cool, right?
Ozzy gave us a minute of his time and here’s what he had to say..
Here’s some pics from The Roxy’s own Erik Voake:

Talk about wasting no time. Organizers for the Sunset Strip Music Festival have already determined the dates for its third year. It will run from Thursday, August 12th through the 14th, with a Sunset Strip street closure on the last day.
“The first-ever street festival brought a renewed energy to The Sunset Strip, and we received a tremendous amount of positive response from the press, attendees, artists and city officials following the event,” said festival Executive Director Todd Steadman in a statement. “We are excited to solidify a date for 2010, and we are thrilled to build on the success of the event for next year.”

Walking down the Sunset Strip at 8am on Saturday morning, we knew history was going to be made. The team was in full effect bright and early – building stages and tents, constructing fences and loading in tour busses – we knew magic was happening. It was uncharted territory, and thanks to the creative minds and believers for putting their heart and soul into a dream. For supporting the Sunset Strip and showing that it has never been more relevant in pop culture and beyond. A HUGE HUGE HUGE thank you to the City of West Hollywood, its residents, city council members and local businesses. To the amazing festival staff and club staffs alike…Thanks to all the bands for taking a chance on this festival – you all mean so much to us! From Ozzy to Korn, The Donnas to Shwayze – you went down in history along with us. We have loved watching the feedback come in, be it from Twitter or other press – and we encourage you all to post your videos, pictures, and favorite moments! Can’t wait to do it all next year!!

Following the first annual SSMF (honoring Sunset Strip moguls Lou Adler, Mario Maglieri, and Elmer Valentine) this years festival plans are well under way! Just announced, OZZY OSBOURNE will be receiving this years big honor and we couldn’t be more excited to show our appreciation to his Rock N Roll legacy. Stay tuned as details are announced for this years festivities – but what we can tell you is, hold SEPTEMBER 11th and 12th on your calendar. You won’t want to miss it!
Yes yes yes. The rumors were true! The one and only Ozzy Osbourne took it to a whole other level last night and took the Camp Freddy Finale above and beyond! The man himself was in tip-top shape, and killed it!!
Straight from the horses mouth – check out Billy Morrison’s blog about the epic show last night!
Tired. Drained. Beat. Mentally Exhausted. Emotionally Bankrupt. Spiritually Enlightened. These words describe how I feel after five hours sleep and one of the best Camp Freddy shows in the bands seven years. The noise that the audience made when we brought the one and only Mr Ozzy Osbourne out to the stage was deafening. And Crazy Train, Iron Man and Paranoid brought the house down. I don’t care who you are – watching a true legend like Ozzy perform in a small club like that is a very special and very intense experience. Standing on the stage with him playing those iconic songs is beyond. Linda Perry, Steve Jones, Juliette Lewis, Naveen Andrews, Chris Vrenna, Mark McGrath and Royston Langdon were all part of the final show at The Roxy. And we closed the month long residency with Ozzy and huge smiles all around. The energy was electric, both from the completely sold out venue and the band onstage. Huge thank you’s go out to all the musicians and performers that took part in the shows with us. I hope everyone who played, came out, watched and experienced these gigs had as good a time as we did. I would imagine that pictures and video will be flowing freely as usual and when I get it all, I’ll put it up here. I want to wish everyone Happy Holidays and thank each and every one of you for the love and support. 2009, baby. More of the same coming your way soon.

Last night was pretty monumental – we saw the return of Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst, Steve Lukather of TOTO, and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top all rocking out! Paired with the always tenacious Navarro and Company – epic!

Also, don’t quote us on this…but if you happened to be listening to Jonesy’s show on INDIE 103.1 this morning you might have heard that the Prince of Darkness himself will be making an appearance at the Camp Freddy finale next week – true or false? We’re not saying…but it’s not to be missed!
